Dar Essania-Farm House-
Maison de la Ferme
@ Zembretta Farm
Just 60 minutes northeast of Tunis, a deserted ranch house has been transformed into a tasteful, tranquil guest ranch, its architecture is based on Ecological, rural & civilizational values. The 207-acre farm is a refuge for both humans and animals, from horses to olive trees. A small white cottage sits atop a slight ridge overlooking the property, with the mountain rising in the background. The original stables, FARM, and the cows buildings have been completely renovated with attention to detail, and several new rooms are filled with classic Phoenician touches. To honor the privacy of our guests, drop-in visits are not allowed, but tour groups and individuals may visit for lunch and a horseback or bike ride, with advance reservations.
The farm is a peaceful, completely secluded hideaway with accommodations that make you feel like you're staying in a luxurious & down to earth rural private home. The 11 rooms have heaters, sea view and bathrooms, individual gardens and couches in the living rooms, and dressers in the bedrooms. Each room has a large porch, where turtles tend to roost in the window boxes among blooming flowers. The chef prepares superb regional Mediterranean cuisine with breads baked daily in a wood-burning beehive oven. Guests are welcome to ride the horses or the bikes up the mountain foothills and into the sea through the pine forest that still lack automobiles and electricity. There's a pool, Hammam/Steam Room, a Jacuzzi & plenty of space to roam in complete solitude.
